| The Gothic Room (and some vampire stuff to go with it) |
 |
Walla's latest set is up! Go looksie! JaneJett is as hot as ever. I love that girl. And her shoes. I still have a big pink heart-shaped earring she left in the room after the shoot.
I could do that whole, "Sorry I haven't posted in a while..." thing, but it feels a bit pointless. I think I ran my blogging urge dry doing that whole copy-editor thing (<-- excuse). And my life is pretty boring (<-- another excuse). After a year and a half of pretty much smoking weed and watching TV/anime/movies, I'm finally realizing how necessary occupation is, on both a mental and social level.
So, being a person with an English degree, I started writing again. I did a couple pages last night while walla was asleep, and it felt good. Unfortunately, my imagination is a bit lacking, so I've fallen back on the tried and true: vampires!
I've read a lot of vampire books and watched pretty much every vampire movie or anime that I could get my hands on. I wouldn't say I've read and watched a z0mg amount, but I have written college papers on vampires, I took a university course on vampires in literature, and I've spent more time analyzing the mechanics and lore of the vampire "mythos" than I care to quantify.
Female vampires as main characters have been on my mind lately. I've read the Sonja Blue series, I've seen Innocent Blood a number of times, I love Underworld, and I think Blood: The Last Vampire is a great anime (I never did finish Moon Phase). Hell, one of my favorite Dissection songs is their cover of Elisabeth Bathory (/the countess of my fire/). But statistically, vampire stories are lacking when it comes to women as main vampiric characters. I blame Bram Stoker. (And Alucard's sexy, sexy English voice. If I could have a torrid affair with an anime character, it would be him. Well, and Vash the Stampede. WTF do I have a thing for dudes in long red coats with huge guns?! Oh wait...)
*I* want Countess Bathory to totally kick Count Dracula's ass.
So I ask, to anyone who finds this: What's your favorite female vampire story? And I don't mean as a secondary character or something; I mean as the main badass who could drain you dry. |
