be careful with ephedrine. i have taken care of a  twenty something female who had a brain aneurysm from taking it. since it speeds up the heart, it increases blood pressure, which results in the vessels weakening. also, the heart can't handle being worked hard for long, which results in diminished heart function.  my knowledge comes from years of taking care of neuro and heart patients. email me if you want more details.

i am happy to hear that the meeting went well.  that is a positive step. if you have not considered individual counseling, you may want to check it out. mainly, as you are probably learning, addiction, besides the chemical kind, also can stem from addictive personality disorder. With that, you switch form one addiction to another (eg. alcohol to a workaholic). Changing one addiction for another is never beneficial since the root is never addressed.

I'm not sure where you live, but in our neck of the woods, most so-called amphetamines (speed) are cooked up from ephedrine.  And like Aradia said, it can be very bad for you.  I also have friends that have lifelong problems from the stuff.

I was a speed freak for a lot of years.  It took me to some pretty low places.  I tried switching addictions ... smoked a lot of pot for a while ... I've been clean / sober off of everything for over 2 years now.  I can relate to the anxiety of quitting, but it does get better and easier.  Are you going into the rehab?  Ephedrine will make you have a dirty drug test, btw.  I am a firm believer in 12 Step programs.  I think they saved my life.

Anyway, I just came to welcome you back.  I think I may remember seeing posts from you, but I don't think we ever talked.
