One shitty note: my fiancee voted for McCain.

My dad voted for McCain. When He asked me via text who I voted for I, for the first time ever revealed my true color, and said Obama. And proceeded to ask who he voted for. His exact response was as follows:

McCain. I like my job and capitolism and christianity. As opposed to unemployment, socialism and radical islam.

My dad is a very informed man.

Sounds like something my dad would say too

I don't agree with it but I can at least understand the unemployment and socialism comment, but the religion thing has me really confused. Even if Obama was Muslim why would that matter? How does allowing other religious groups freedom to practice their religion take away from your religious rights?

I, for one, look forward to seeing what the next four years bring. I know it's going to be hard, and we're all going to have to make sacrifices, but I feel like we're going to be in a better position and I'm hopeful that we can restore our reputation on the global stage.

I know that I went in that booth and PROUDLY voted for Barack Obama! To those out there that are spouting this "socialism", and more unemployment garbage, are we forgetting that the last period of unprecedented economic prosperity that this country enjoyed was under a democrat? And as far as the socialism charge, that is total republican rubbish propaganda! If you believe that charge, who's the REAL sucker? If you happen to be offended by this post, I can't say as I apologize, either.

The problem with the "socialist" argument is that it was invalid. The people who made it don't understand what socialism means. But second of all, socialism isn't necessarily a bad thing, and there is such a thing as democratic socialism (look at Canada, Europe, Australia, every other developed country in the world....). Then again, I'm one of those pinko commie bastards who doesn't understand why someone wouldn't want to give more funding to poor inner city schools, provide healthcare for children, or resources to people who have none (like the federal student loans that my parents used to fund their education. Reagan deemed them "pork" and cut them).

Actually, just to be clear, you are aware that Obama admits his plan will spike unemployment, right?

Now, being that I don't have a horse in this race, an possess better economic credentials than either presidential candidate, I feel oblidged to point out what Americans never seem to see. Clinton, while aided by the dot com bubble and while being forced by a Republican Congress led by Gnewt accomplished some solid economic feats while simultaneously helping deregulate major industry.

Clinton was an economic conservative, lest one forget all the cries when he sliced the welfare role call.

The country runs best, and always has, when the president and the congress are in opposition with each other - this is irrefutable fact. The country performs worse when there is no opposition regardless of whatever party is in charge.

I am embarasssed for Americans when they attach economic swings to presidents and their parties. It's as if the most complicated system in the world is somehow catering to the whims of one man.

The socialism is normally tongue in cheek. Obviously, with a Democrat president, I have to re-evaluate my business, as whether you want to believe it or not, they certainly do not support small businesses being able to survive to the next generation.

Be happy he won. I certainly am. But don't knock that down with ignorance...

I promise you a large sum of money, if you are a betting man, that America will be quite surprised by the economic picture Obama will paint over the next few weeks. Some will be naive enough to blame "a party", they should be blaming themselves.

Believe me Inti, I TOTALLY concur with what you've said. I have zero problems with socialism...or communism, if executed in it's truest form, for that matter. I simply thought it was short sighted for anyone that did brand Obama a socialist, being that this isn't what he truly represents, as you very eloquently pointed out.

Also, having a 120,000,000 or so people vote is pretty damn cool. Maybe you guys needed a shit head president to shake some of the complacency.

With a strategy that removes funds from war and directly inserts them into American economy, one can only hope to obtain a popular opinion, even when raising taxes.

It is just like all those people who won't vote a woman president for fear of her "PMSing all over America."
