All you need to do is look at the lyrics of VNV Nation's Beloved. Those are mine.

Ditto. Pretty much my favorite song ever.

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice suprise)
Bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,' said the night man,
'We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave!'

Lyrics are often my favorite parts of songs, and what first got me into listening to and eventually playing music.

Lately I've been into really mellow music. Like, coma-inducing. One guy I like, but no one else seems to, is "Iron and Wine." My favorite song isn't on an album, but is the closing song to that horrible movie, "In Good Company." Hearing the song made watching that crap worth it, though. Here are some select lyrics:

Please, remember me
Fondly
I heard from someone you're still pretty
And then
They went on to say
That the pearly gates
Had some eloquent graffiti
Like "We'll meet again"
And "Fuck the man"
And "Tell my mother not to worry"
And angels with their gray
Handshakes
Were always done in such a hurry

...

Please, remember me
As in the dream
We had as rug-burned babies
Among the fallen trees
And fast asleep
Aside the lions and the ladies
That called you what you like
And even might
Give a gift for your behavior
A fleeting chance to see
A trapeze
Swing as high as any savior

Well some say I'm not country
and that's just fine with me
'Cause I don't wanna be country
with some faggot looking over at me
They say that I'm ill-mannered
that I'm gonna self-destruct
But if you know what I'm thinkin'
you'll know that pop country really sucks

So I'm here to put the "dick" in Dixie
and the "cunt" back in country
'Cause the kind of country I hear now days
is a bunch of fuckin' shit to me
They say that I'm ill-mannered
that I'm gonna self-destruct
But if you know what I'm thinkin'
you'll know that pop country really sucks

Well we're losing all the outlaws
that had to stand their ground
and they're being replaced by these kids
from a manufactured town
And they don't have no idea
about sorrow and woe
'Cause they're all just too damn busy
kissin' ass on Music Row

So I'm here to put the "dick" in Dixie
and the "cunt" back in country
'Cause the kind of country I hear nowdays
is a bunch of fuckin' shit to me
And they say that I'm ill-mannered
that I'm gonna self-destruct
But if you know what I'm thinkin'
you'll know that pop country really sucks

And if you know what I'm thinkin'
you'll know that pop country really sucks

(Sorry, I'm in a sappy mood, but I love these lyrics)

Next door

There's an old man

Who lived to his 90s

And one day

Passed away in his sleep

And his wife

She stayed for a couple of days

And passed away

I sorry

I know that's a strange way to tell you

That I know

We belong

That I know

That I am the luckiest

Find me here, and speak to me

I want to feel you, I need to hear you

You are the light, that's leading me

To the place, where I find peace again...

You are the strength, that keeps me walking

You are the hope, that keeps me trusting

You are the life, to my soul

You are my purpose, you're everything

And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?

Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

You calm the storms, and you give me rest

You hold my in hands, you wont let me fall

You still my hearts, and you take my breath away

Would you take me in? Take me deeper now....

And how I stand here with you and not be moved by you?

Would you tell me how could be any better than this?

Cause you're all that I want, You're all that I need

You're everything....everything

Everything by Lifehouse - I cried the first time I heard it. And it was instantly one of those songs you play over and over again. It was my song with my first love and one of those songs that every time you hear it every single memory you have with a certain person comes back to you in an instant.

You're a dirty, dirty man
And you gotta dirty mind
You're a dirty, dirty man
You and that other woman, you're 2 of a kind
But you forgot 1 thing baby when you were doing me wrong
That Im a good house keeper
Im gonna take my broom and sweep
All of the dirt out on the street

You're a dirty, dirty man
Oh in so many, so many dirty ways
You're a dirty, dirty man
And you've been hidding your little dirt all over this hip place
I know you have
Oh here's my chance baby to throw some mud in your face

Coz Im a good house keeper
Im gonna take my broom and sweep
All of the dirt, yes I am, out on the street

Oh, Im cleaning outl my whole house
Fast as I can
Its time to make everything speak and span

You're a dirty, ooh you're a dirty man
You do me dirty for so many years, yes you did
You're a dirty, dirty man, yes you are
And Im tired of you and your woman and your dog too
You're a dirty man
You're a dirty man
Now get outta my house
Dont u never, never, never come back again
Dont u never
You're a dirty, dirty man

And Im done with your dirty ways

I beat my machine it's a part of me it's inside of me
I'm stuck in this dream it's changing me I am becoming
the me that you know he had some second thoughts
he's covered with scabs and he is broken and sore
the me that you know doesn't come around much
that part of me isn't here anymore
all pain disappears it's the nature of my circuitry
drowns out all I hear there's no escape from this my new consciousness
the me that you know used to have feelings
but the blood has stopped pumping and he's left to decay
the me that you know is now made up of wires
and even when I'm right with you I'm so far away
I can try to get away but I’ve strapped myself in
I can try to scratch away the sound in my ears
I can see it killing away all my bad parts
I don't want to listen but it's all too clear

hiding backwards inside of me I feel so unafraid
Annie, hold a little tighter I might just slip away

it won't give up it wants me dead
goddamn this noise inside my head

Who fucked who? Who took who?
And what you took, will it do?
Did you win or did you lose?
Who fucked who? Who took who?

Essentially the way i see the world outside of me
Is covered by a film of treachery
There is no reason i can see for you to turn on me
But what is that i hear behind my back
Do you attack? who do, who do you attack?

Who fucked who? Who screwed who?
Who made what secret rendezvous?
And what was said between you two?
Who fucked who? Who screwed who, man?

When i see you now i really wonder why i cared
There really was no point to this despair
But when the lies are spoken, trust is broken, harm is done
Then nothing has been gained and nothing won
Just the hatred of a wounded enemy
And when you look at me, who do you see?
Who do you see? when you look at me, a wounded enemy

Who fucked who? Who screwed who?
Who took who, man? Who fucked who?

Hatred, animosity are real as life to me
There is no space between these minor chords
But if the scales of life are weighted down with cruelty
The other side is lifted up with love
Who do you, who do, tell me who fucked you?

(Roses are red, violets are blue,
You're fucked up, but i am too
It's a sad story.
Yea, we've all been on the bottom of the old in-and-out.
You've gotta rise up, rise up, rise up, an octave)

" if you ain't dead, you ain't a suicide girl
you can tattoo that on your back with your broken wings
hope for the best when you jump from the buildings"
