This thread is dedicated to all the Black Sheep of Deviant Nation!

Long may we darken the doorsteps of our families and community! So, what makes you a Black Sheep?

For me, it would have to be my simple existance. My stepfather wishes me to vanish from the face of the earth, and my mom only needs me to serve as a mold to project her imaginary verison of myself on. Needless, to say, being sane is my way of being the Black Sheep.

But, wait just a darned second here! I'm NOT sane...

Crap! This is going to take some time working out!

Anyone else?

Half my family is jewish, so its definitely not okay to have tattoos or piercings or anything of the sort. So without even diving into my personality, my appearance pushes me right into the black sheep category hahahah

My ambition, determination and desire to succeed make me the blacksheep in my family, as well as my lack of an addiction to any drugs and/or alcohol.

my appearance as well. Tattoos are not common in my family, haha. Also, I'm the black sheep b/c I can't let there be an elephant in the room. I don't sweep things under the rug and I face things head on. If I have an issue, I talk about it. I don't just smile and nod and pretend everything is always perfect.

I'm the black sheep of the family because growing up I always did something "weird" with my appearance, be it dying my whole head of hair pink at 16 or wearing a full set of traditional bindis across my entire forehead throughout high school. But my parents always approved. The rest of the family seems to think tattoos/piercings/unnatural hair = drug use, which is funny because I don't drink, and I've never done an illegal drug or abused a prescription drug in my life. Some of my cousins (who have been warned about me and my omg potential addict ways), however...
I come from a pretty typical Puerto Rican family, and everybody thinks I'm "white washed" haha.

On my fathers side I am the black sheep simply for being my parents kid.. They hate my mom and well my dad has another kid who thinks hes my cousin... long fucked up story.. to say the least everyone on that side avoids me.. My mom is a bible thumper christian and just looking at me makes her cringe.. On top of that my views on everything are always "wrong" since they disagree with most of hers

I dropped out of college (I still claim I'm on hiatus but we all know I'm never going back) and I had the easiest major possible, Music Performance and Composition. I also got pregnant when my bf and I were together after 6 months (my dad thought I was a virgin still)

Mine too. Although, the christian side of my family doesn't appreciate my tattoos anymore than the jewish side of my family.

The tattoos are only just the start of why I am the black sheep though. THe fact that I am almost thirty (yikes!) and have no children, nor any plans for children, is horrific to my large family.

My ex was a music comp major on classical guitar and it was ridiculously hard. Its like a 6 year degree at our school.

Same here but I've always loved music and it's been a big part of me for most of my life. My family thought I was throwing my life away on a useless degree.

I always used to joke with people when I'd tell them my major they'd ask "what are you going to do with that" my response "Manage an IHOP"
